Hello again: well I have followed every ones advice but I still have the same problem, but a little different. I uninstalled the VLC media player and now all I get are the icons that look like Elements 12. But no photos in the folders. I can't uninstall Elements I tried but Adobe said that if I do I can't re-install on my laptop so I stopped that. Anyone care to help this is getting frustrating. Hal

Did you go into VLC options>associations and untick the file types you don't want VLC to open? That's half the battle. The other half is to simply open the program of choice and change the associations in that program to accept the file type you want it to open?

No I uninstalled VLC completely no one said to do what you stated. Now I just have icons representing the Elements12 but no photos as I loaded them into HD.

You're using VLC for stills? I think it's mainly for video and music. Find an image/video you want to view and right-click on it. Then select "Open with..." and choose VLC. That may work.

I had this happen to me once. I was downloading the wrong software. I needed the 64 bit software and was downloading the 36 bit.

To uninstall Elements so you can use it on another computer, in Elements Editor (not Organiser) go to Help/Deactivate. See https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy.../activate-deactivate-products.html
