Along the backwaters of the Chobe River in Namibia we came across a colony of skimmers tending their nests on the sandy banks. They seem like fairly docile birds until someone or something gets too close. In this case it was a few Egyptian Geese who invaded their "personal space." The skimmers went into full attack mode, doing formation flying any F16 pilot would envy. For the most part, the geese ducked and dodged but a few sharp pokes from the Skimmer's bills finally persuaded the geese to find a calmer spot for grazing.

Great set and narrative, Greg!
Amazing photos. Well done
Great job. Looks like your D500 served you well.
What a terrific set of photos. The one of the Skimmers flying in formation is a wonderful shot of BIF. I also like the one of the skimmer poking the goose on the ground. If I were a goose, I'd look for a more peaceful and welcoming place to forage.
Shot three is a prize winner for sure!
Love the images and your captions, Greg!
