Leaving the Lake - Roiling Clouds

It was actually a beautiful morning, and just as I was leaving the lake to climb a ridge to get into another drainage, there was some adabiatic cooling from cold air being sucked off the surface of the lake. That cool air then sublimated into temporary clouds when that air rose high enough to get hit with the warm air above.

This created a temporary "roiling cloud" tempest which sent its fingers into the trees and underlying rock ribs. This, in turn, made the moving cloud mass do all sorts of twists and turns, all at a very fast tempo.

At one point - which I MISSED with the camera - there were two pinwheels spinning, mimicking the shape of galaxies! I wish I could have captured them, but you can at least get an idea of the quite fast movement of the cloud in this image.

Within 15 minutes or so, it was all cleared out.

Forgive the contrast; this was shooting almost directly into a rising sun.

You can see just a bit of Fall color showing on the foreground Mountain Ash and Blueberry bushes.

I LOVE the clouds and the tops of the trees!!! Would you consider lopping off the lake and just keeping the trees in the clouds?

You want me to go back and lop off that lake? What would the fish think?

Oh...wait...I see. You mean in the IMAGE.

Sure!

Okay, mrjcall - https://www.viewbug.com/member/mrjcall - provided me, in a PM, with a bit of "processing" which I think improved the image greatly. I am not proficient with photo editing software, so I really appreciate it.

With his permission, I am now posting his re-do of the image, because I think it is much better than my original. Thank you very much mrjcall!

The photos are nice and that was to be expected. I do like your work. I was also very interested to read your explanation of the formation of the temporary clouds. Thanks.
