When you upload your photo to the shutter count site, make sure you use a small jpeg. It will make a difference.

Just had this issue. Drag your JPEG pic off your SD card, unedited, as shot, and upload that. Nikon has no software to determine shutter count, they believe it to be irrelevant.

Incorrect - EVERY Nikon made since the 90's puts the shutter count in the EXIF of every image taken.

All you need to do is learn how to look at the EXIF information

The shuttecount web sites look at the EXIF info to tell you the image number or shutter count - you can do the same thing without uploading the image by looking at EXIF yourself, simple, fast, easy

Hi All,

I have a like new Nikon 7100 I'd like to list here but before I do I'd like to get the shutter count. I've tried getting the count from a number of online sites that tell me to upload a photo and they'll tell me the count. But when I do that they come back telling me that there is no count info with the photo. Hummm.

Any suggestions ?

Thank you !

In my experience, It will not read a RAW file

If you have a Flickr account you can click on the EXIF option next to the picture.

I'll try again and this time I'll be sure to click " store original" .
Sorry but I'm dumb as a rock about so much of this.
Thanks

Hello Dave,

That's the site that told me nothing doing...no shutter info.

Thank you.

Wow that's surprising ...I have the D7100 and I use shuttercount all the time with no problem...
And as others have stated you can also retrieve from the EXIF

I downloaded the image, and checked it with EXIFtool. It displayed the "shutter count" value as 300. Does that sound reasonable?

If you use Photoshop, I have found the shutter count in the .xmp file that is created when an image is opened in PS. Underneath the exif information are entries labeled "aux". Look for "aux: ImageNumber = (number)" I believe that is the shutter count, but I could be mistaken. Seems to make sense, though.

Donald, it appears that this Nikon calls it "Total Pictures". I missed it until someone posted 300. Did a search through the file for 300 and found Total Pictures 300.
