Considering getting the Pluto trigger system for my camera (Nikon D500 and D5500) . . . I was wondering if any UHH'rs have got this trigger?, How is it working?, Pro's/Con's?, Comments/Experience? Recommend, Y or N? Etc. . . . Thanks in advance for your comments/input . . .

I don't have the Pluto but I do have the Pulse by Alpine Labs and it sounds like they do the same thing, mine has a free app that you download so you use your phone or tablet to control via bluetooth, I really like mine, I have done a lot of time lapse including the solar eclipse last Aug and it worked great, I see the Pulse is available for $75 or so on ebay. My pulse offers Long exposure, time lapse, photos, video, HDR, and photo booth, as its options, my only complaint is how far I can get from my camera, it doesn't stop anything you have set up but I can't preview the photos taken. Hope this helps

I have the VELLO SHUTTERBUG ll, it works very well, but it's $99. Allows for shutter focus, then shoot, timer mode seconds to hours, does count up or count down timing, check it out. Uses standard chartered CR-2 battery available at canera stires and most Pharmacies, good to over 200 feet, multi channel one remote can fire off a bunch of these!

I just picked up a Pluto and so far it's worked well. The lightening trigger works exceptionally well as does long exposure (my two primary uses so far). It's relatively quick and easy to set up, but do keep in mind that it's controlled by your smartphone/app. So, if you set it up as a lightening trigger (or other smart-sensor setting) and walk away (with your phone in your pocket), it'll stop firing as soon as you're out of range (it's a bluetooth connection so the effective range is around 30 feet). Also, the main unit has an internal battery, so you'll have to remember to charge it before going out (HINT: if you carry a small external phone battery, you can always plug the Pluto into it if the battery runs low or if you're shooting a very long time-lapse... the unit does continue to operate while charging unlike some of the other triggers on the market). Battery life seems good... as long as you remember to charge it before leaving for a shoot. The unit also comes with a laser trigger which is an additional accessory for other similar triggers. I'm really looking forward to using the Pluto in other trigger modes... I think it offers more options than just about anything else out there. It also seems to have very solid build quality and the free app is actually quite easy to navigate. I would recommend the Pluto without hesitation (BTW - I'm a recreational shooter with absolutely no connection to Pluto). Best of luck!

I bought one to try lightning as a subject but ended up in a place I could never try it (canopy and lack of storms). I have however used it to capture some shy hummingbirds, and it worked well. I setup the shot, pre-focused and came into the house where I could see them through the window and trigger a burst from my phone. So far, I'm happy with it and looking forward to trying some of the other features, particularly HDR bracketing.
