These little bug-eaters are fairly common in Botswana. Yet, while they dress for the party they don't like to dance. They are notorious for out-waiting a photographer who wants to catch them flying.
This little guy was being upstaged by two leopards who had the attention of all the cameras. But, there was a little pile of some kind of dung below his perch and he repeatedly flew down to grab flies which were either eating or hatching from the manure. I caught his flash of colors out of the corner of my eye and got our guide to move for better light.

Really good job, beautiful bird👌
Like you had a chance to have him pose? Awesome shots, thanks for posting.
So many amazing colors on one bird! And I love how the colors seem to change on it's splayed wings! Good for you to be aware of your surroundings!
Wow, beautiful photos, especially the one in flight. When I saw your topic, I had to check it out because I was there last year. I only saw one lilac breasted roller but it cooperated with me for a minute.
Thank you, thank you all. For those who are interested, there are some very good safaris at reasonable costs in Botswana.
Absolutely beautiful captures!
