Hi,
I'm new to this form but been doing photography since the mid '50s when I helped my Mom in the darkroom and being her go-fer when she took pics. She was a professional. in the the mid '60s I set out to be one too but blindness set me back a bit. After eye surgery I tried again but my home, along with my darkroom, pics and negs and equipment burnt up...one week before I was contacted by a publisher that found out I had the only pics of an old wagon and team that traveled across the U.S.. They wanted to purchase all the slides for a book. OUCH!!! I had to tell them I lost them a week earlier. Oh well!!! I went on with some semi-pro stuff but decided needed a good day job.
I am now retired and takin' pics JUST FOR FUN.
Anyway I have enjoyed this site a lot. Thanks.

Welcome to the UHH. I take it your fire was before the days of cloud backup. I have cloud backup of photos, music and documents. I also have a complete backup of my system on a local hard drive. I use Carbonite and think the peace of mind is worth the cost.

Thank you for the welcome. Yeah there weren't any computers then. It was 1972. I had been using a folding Kodak Retina and just upgraded to a Canon F1 system. After the fire I found a slightly used Nikon F, which I still have.
Welcome! Looking forward to your posts and pictures. Happy shooting!
