I'm new here and new to photography. I've found this sight to be very helpful on many topics. I'm a little turned off by the sniping that goes on politically, especially the anti Obama sentiment. I'm tempted to call it a day and move on to other sites for my info except that I really like this site. So I'll hang in there for awhile yet. Before you post political comments, just remember, there are two parties: the ruthless and mean Republicans and the feckless and inept Democrats. Neither one is worth getting worked up about.

Welcome Diogenes. I too was turned off by some of the postings that I read on this forum, but I think if you take the advice given by Danilo and Rachel you will find it a very enjoyable experience. Looking forward to seeing some of yoru photos.

I agree, I have grown tired of the old man, grumpy, narrow minded views expressed by some posters here... more so when they deliver their views with nastiness, personal attacks, name calling, borderline racist rhetoric (if not out and out racist comments).

There is a lot to learn from both sides, but when you spew hate and are rude it shuts the other side down from taking anything you say seriously. You need to be open to learning, not just pushing your views down others throats (this goes for both sides of the fence).

We have lost a few wonderful members due to the way other members act here. Not all of those MIA members were liberals or standing on the left side of the fence, more than a few were planted firmly on the right. I will miss them, as I learned a lot from people like Ward, I gained an understanding on why he saw things the way he did and opened my way of thought to different ideas and ideals.

Bear in mind that you're dealing with some VERY stupid and heavily indoctrinated people here in the chit-chat section. Learn to ignore them (I'm getting better at it, but I have a long way to go)and you'll find that it's quite a good photography site. Even some of the apparently brain-dead rednecks know a surprising amount about photography.
