I've noticed several times that people post about looking at EXIF data for other people's photos to see what camera was used, settings, etc. How do you do that? It came up in a post today but I didn't want to change the OP's subject to ask. Thanks in advance for your answers.

I am using this method. I press "Download" under picture, copy this picture to my folder, open it in Photoshop, File, File info.

I use various methods of viewing EXIF data - EXIFTOOL, a public domain free package for me is essential for photography - I also make use of EXIF VIEWER, a plugin for Chrome that will display a snippet of EXIF DATA when you hover your mouse over an image with EXIF data included.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/exif-viewer/nafpfdcmppffipmhcpkbplhkoiekndckIn Lightroom, I make use of Jeffery Friedl's excellent metadata viewer, which makes use of EXIFTOOL to display all the EXIF data included in an image.

I've installed an exif-viewer as add-on to my browser. When I want to see the exif of any photo here on the Hog, I "download" it from the link below the photo, then right-click, click on the viewer link, and the exif data immediately pops up.
You don't say what OS you use; if you want to go this route, I suggest you google for "Exif Viewer", read the descriptions from the results list, and choose one that you think will fit your needs.
If you don't like it, you can always delete it and choose a different one later.
I use OPANDA IEXIF, It is freeware. It will show a ton of information about your photo. They also have a Pro version, but the free version shows all I need. You can Google "OPANDA" to find their site.
I use Firefox as my browser. There is an add on for exif that allows for right clicking for the data.

For simple data, I just right-click on the downloaded image and go to the details column of the properties screen.
I recommend this as well, I have it book marked for quick access, it comes up with an incredible amount of information.

What browser are you using. There are browser extensions you can add.

Thanks for the information
Thank you all so much! I have a Mac (running Safari). I should have stated that in the original post. I'll check through all your suggestions and see what works. Again, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I have Safari. I looked at one that Jerry suggested and started to D/L it (from Mackeeper who I don't trust) and then it asked if it could change my files. THE HELL WITH THAT. I've lived this long without EXIF files I guess I can go on without it. I rejected the DL but now a warning comes up on my screen saying "system scan is recommended".
I have NEVER even seen that "system scan" request before.
Jerry - Thanks for the link to the HowToGeek page - I had no idea you had all of that data and adjustment capability in Preview / Safari!
