Thanks to several who responded to questions I had back in June about photographing rainbows at Victoria Falls. We had great success. I must say July is a great time to visit the falls. There is still LOTS of water pouring over them to create the mist needed for rainbows. And not so much as say in May when you may not see the rainbows due to too much water (according to our guide.)

I did indeed find a helicopter company who would take the doors off so we had much more movement freedom and didn't have to shoot through the glass. We did have to leave behind caps, scarves, lens hoods and anything else which could possible fall out and get into the tail rotor (think sudden, spinning descent.)

We spent an entire day walking along the gorge that the water falls into. It was great fun, great views and quite refreshing. Sometimes you would stand at the edge of the gorge and watch the mist shoot skyward, and only moments later it would fall of its own weight as a drenching shower. We all had ponchos or jackets to keep our cameras dry, kind of.

I apologize for rerunning the lunar rainbow (I had another post about it). But I just couldn't do a report of the falls without it. It was a five second exposure taken well after sunset with only the light of the moon.

Edit to add: One of the guys in our group did the 500 ft. bungee jump off of the bridge in the first photo. He's nuts.
