Well it has been several months since I posted anything. A busy high school senior season keeps me busy and at least somewhat out of trouble. I did get in one veteran session this summer and I am now up to 30...maybe 31. Once the HS senior season is over, I will get back to getting more in. I really want to get more WWII and Korean War vet in, but the ones I approach are making it a tough sell. I'll keep working on them.
So here are a few recent ones. I think the 95 year-old in his leather jacket was posted before, but not this image. He was a P-38 pilot in the China-Burma-India Theater. Great stories form these guys.
That has ro be a cool project. Nice pics. Would i like to hear the stories from the p38 pilot

I belong to two military aviator organizations - VHPA (Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association) and Daedalians. The membership of VHPA is self-explanatory, The Daedalian organization is composed of rated aviators from all branches, retired, separated, and active duty. We have WWII pilots, active duty F16 pilots, and everything in between.
To answer your question, I started the project last spring after attending a few funerals for some of the guys and seeing some crap photos of them on the program or on display. They deserve better. So I presented the idea to the group and explained that my idea was not to get good funeral photos, but to address the obvious fact that the families had NO recent good images, let alone a professional portrait.
Getting the first few into the studio was a struggle as they did not realize what the final product would look like. After I did get the first 3 or 4 and delivered the portraits to the monthly meeting, they started to line up.
Excellent photos, great project !

Great shots. More than likely fantastic stories to be told. Keep this project going. Perhaps at some point, some of their stories.
