Poudre Lake lies on an alpine plateau at 2 miles above sea level. At midnight, on a still summer night, the light of a full moon illuminated the surface of the lake and brushed the treeline with magical light while a universe of stars floated in the heavens and had their light reflected by the waters of the lake.

Being alone with the universe on nights like this rejuvenates my soul.

Thank you for the compliment jederick. It took a while, but I'm getting the hang of shooting at night. It is becoming a favorite time for me.

Thanks Phil. These types of photos are becoming my favorites as well. On the plus sides, there is no one else around. ANd I've always said, "sleep is highly over rated." :-)

Thank you good Doctor. I just love the way the light plays. Once I discovered that photography is all about light, these types of photos became so much easier.

How did you capture stars in front of the clouds?

This is a long exposure, so the camera gathers light continuously. The clouds were not thick so I guess the light shines through.
