Took a walk in the meadow of one of my favorite places yesterday. Found a few species I've not seen before. Also found a new blog, "Back Yard Biology" that Google gave me when I went looking for an ID for a "black fly with white face". Question - is the white spot on the second Leaf-footed Bug a parasite?

That is a good haul for one walk. I think that maybe an egg on your second leaf footed bug, see a similar image here http://bugguide.net/node/view/442960

You have a wonderful collection here. I'm not a bug person myself, but I do enjoy looking at other's photos.

All really good! The blister beetle is my favorite. I like the hint of blue on it. It is so important to have a favorite place or two for this hobby of ours.
Brenda is right about the egg on the leaf-footed bug. The eggs come from a Tachinid fly.
The butterfly at the end is a great spangled fritillary.

Mark, I know you've been right on the ID of anything I've posted, but I have to disagree with the Great Spangled Fritillary. I've looked at pictures of that butterfly vs. my ID of Orange Sulphur, and I'm pretty sure my ID is correct. Would you take another look?

Thanks, Brenda. I mentioned the parasite because I had seen another leaf-footed bug with a couple of white spots on it's head and they were described as parasites. I wasn't sure and that's why I asked for confirmation.

That explains it - I was wondering why it wasn't working. It was because the bug was, more or less, stationary.😎

Common names get mixed around, and so that may be a legitimate common name for that butterfly. Here is the orange sulpher that I know of: http://bugguide.net/node/view/802566
And the great spangled frit. : http://bugguide.net/node/view/1131870
