Lyric Loc: The North relocated to the dirty South, LOL

Greetings from a newbie grandmom setting up a cottage venture with a serious need to get photography correct. I will be shooting garments on a dressform inside my sewing studio the "Lady Lair" in an effort to make sales. My photographs must be impressive.

It is with eager anticipation that I come to this form ready to learn and grow. I thank you all in advance for your assistance in my journey.

Namaste,

Lyric

Welcome to our forum!

Lighting would be important for something like that. Amazon has inexpensive lighting kits, but that's not my area of expertise (I'm still trying to find out what is. )

A tripod would also be essential. I'm sure you 'll get lots of good suggestions.

Welcome to the UHH from another Grandmother. I don't photograph what you are photographing but I'm sure you will receive lots of help from others on the forum. I do know you will need a good tripod.

when you get comfortable try HDR. I use Photomatix and it gives me great flexibility. I bulk process.

Welcome to UHH! A quick reply for getting excellent images of your dress products is: Use a tripod, start with some rudimentary lighting set up such as two floods and a spot on stands with a non-distracting backdrop (such as black) and then experiment, experiment, experiment! There are some good books on lighting. If you have Nikon equipment there is an excellent book: "The Nikon Creative Lighting System'.

Umm, huh? I know not any of what you stated above, but I thank you for taking the time to state it.
