Cell Phone Flash

This happened to me twice on my Galaxy S4. I turned the phone on, and within a minute, the bright light for the flash turned on. The only way I could turn it off was to turn the phone off.

Is there a way to turn that light on? Is there a way to turn it off?

To the best of my knowledge every smart phone has a 'flash light' function. Should be a icon or in settings to turn off. Not familiar with S4. You Tube?

Thanks. The flashlight is the main LCD screen. That lights up bright white. The light I got twice is the flash for taking pictures - like the pop-up flash on cameras.

My wife has a Note2 . It's called 'assistive light' - it lights up the flash. Try press & hold main screen. From menu that comes up press apps & widgets. It should be there. You can press/hold & drag assistive light to main screen.

Thanks, but pressing the screen got me nothing. I think it was just a malfunction, and I hope it doesn't happen again. The second time it happened, I saw the bright light shining out of my pocket.

Jerry, I have the S4 and I have an app called "Brightest Flashlight" installed. It turns on the light just below the camera and is very bright. You might look through your apps to see if you have this one or something similar that might be turning on the light.

Jerry, I have the same phone. Try this: go to the Task Manager (hold down the button until Task Manager is one of 3 choices and press it). At the top, press Active Apps. See if that list includes anything that might be controlling the flash--if so, end it.

Hope that helps.

Have you tried:
Settings> my device > Accessibility > Flash notification and turned it off ?

If Flash Notification is not turned on, try turning it on, closing and reopening settings and then turning it off.

Could try uninstalling the camera app and re-installing it...??
