The photo captures a kind of innocence to me, but the clouds don't look right. They kind of distract from the main subjects. Not sure if they are natural, or post processed in. Please take my critique with a grain of salt, I don't pretend to be an expert.

Frank, you know I'm a sucker for the B&W beach scenes you provide and this is no exception. The tender expression and body language shows all so well with this image. I would like to have seen more room to the left rather than the right, as to walking out of the frame, but it still works. This will be cherished for years to come. If you are in Texas, hope you and loved ones are safe with minimum to no property damage.

Thank you Mr. Chinn, point understood..I felt the position in the frame gave just a touch of a feeling of urgency of getting to the water to wash off the sand..and thank you for your concern we were spared any damage here..

I think this is a great picture! The boy's expression is priceless and his tender, loving feeling toward the girl (his sister?) is just so evident. You captured a beautiful moment that these kids can cherish for a lifetime.

Frank I really like the feel of this shot. Big brother with his reassuring hand on his little sisters shoulders. "It's ok don't be afraid of the waves."
What I think distracts from the shot are the clouds. They caught my eyes and I could not look away from them. I know it has already been pointed out but they don't look real to me.

Wonderful image! Reminds me of Eugene Smith's "The Walk to Paradise Garden".

This is a very striking image. I love the emotions it depicts - the story it tells. Not sure about the clouds. I probably wouldn't have thought about them if someone hadn't mentioned them. The lighting is very good, and the tones used are most appropriate. I'd say, "well done!"

I looked at the title and clicked the thread open without looking to see who posted it. As soon as it came up, I knew it was one of your Black and white beach scenes. This is a good thing. Just like the others, this scene captures a moment that is unique unrepeatable and full of emotion. There might be some funkiness in the sky; but it does not really register to me. Those kids dominate all my attention. Well done.

Glad you were not affected terribly by the events around the Gulf coast and Houston.

Just my 2 cents worth-love the image! Reminds me of one I have of myself and my Daddy over 60 years ago that I cherish now. Normally I would agree about leaving walking space to the left but I really don't mind the lack of it on this image- maybe because the shadows help balance it out.
