TV shows...
I am laughing quite a bit while watching a show...
When the producers are done with a character they kill it off. Preferred method? Buses, ambulances, police cars, vans, whatever that is on wheel and can kill the 'unsuspecting' idiot coming out of a building, using the phone, going across a street w/o looking...
One exception: That guy fell off an aircraft!!!

Funny you mentioned that. I recently read an article about characters killed off because the writers and producers disliked the actor. Charlie Sheen is the best example and his character's death - a piano falling on him - showed the disdain the producer had for him, in their famous feud. With another character, it was not because of the dislike for the actor, but because they wanted to "teach him a lesson". That was McLean Stevenson of MASH. Apparently, he was famous for worming out of his contracts, then wanting back in. With MASH, the producers wanted his character killed off so that he would understand there was no turning back. Now, every time a character is done in on TV, I look for how it was done and wonder what the producers are trying to say about him/her. Falling out of a plane...?
If it is a sitcom and a minor character, sometimes for a laugh. Mary Tyler Moore's clown killed by elephant looking for peanut.
On another note they have started reshowing Frasier on our to.To my mind the best tv to come out of America.
