Excellent series Bob what a beautiful bird. All spruced up to make his entry for dinner! Enjoyed your intro very much. We have a male blackbird that is quite tame and if the back door is open he will come in to eat Ted the cat's food.

Glad you stopped by, Sylvia! Your visit was appreciated, as were the comments and smilies! Your blackbird sounds like he qualifies for the "tame" description...it makes me feel good when one of God's creatures shows some trust.

have a nice weekend!

I don't believe that it pays to be very rigid in our thinking about the feeding habits of birds and animals! We have several wild rabbits that on many days meet me around the bird feeder and beg for food, as I usually spread a small amount of a mixture consisting of small seed, black oil sunflower seed, and shelled whole grain corn directly on the ground and they seem especially fond of the black oil sunflower and the whole grain corn. When I was a child we raised a wild rabbit that used to beg for fried chicken, and I recently read an article in a wildlife magazine about deer eating the eggs from bird nest that they could reach and have also read that cattle will also feed on them!!

Corkie, I guess that each of us has, at times, been really hungry...a hungry belly shows little preference, I have found! Thanks for adding your experiences and observations to this post...they added greatly!

Enjoy what's left of the weekend!

WOW!!! I loved reading your intro and your Robin shots are fantastic, especially popping the seed in his mouth!! So tell me, Bob.... when he came inside to visit, did you have a place setting ready for him at the table!! How awesome is that, he knows a good person when he sees one!!

.....do you still make your own suet??
WOW!!! I loved reading your intro and your Robin ... (show quote)

He certainly shows no fear! I am so glad that they are non-migratory! Thanks for visiting, commenting and for the smilies! It appears that you are finding out how time consuming the nurturing of butterflies can be...and also how rewarding it is...don't know how you get around to doing everything that you do!

Excellent shots of your little bobbing friend, Bob. From the sounds of it, you may have to start charging him room and board.

Thanks for viewing the post, Randy! Hope you're enjoying a nice fall-like weekend. Sure miss your photos!

Great shots of your friend!
Enjoyed your story and the others' stories of the friendliness and fearlessness of the critters. And, I am terribly sad that I must emit some evil vibe that keeps all my wildlife at bay. Every. Single. Day. I feed generously. I call them to dinner when I put out the goodies (so, I can understand why the human neighbors keep their distance), but as soon as I get within 30', off they go -- some retreat as soon as I open the door. Do you think maybe I look evil? I would post a selfie so you could judge - but I'm afraid it might break my camera.

As a rule, my wildlife also departs when I come out the door...it's their primary defense against becoming another critters lunch! That's the main reason that I shoot the vast majority of my shots through the closed window from inside the house. It is also a lot cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter and the coffee pot and cookies are always handy! I enjoyed your visits and comments!
