Beautiful. My friend Julie (who is also a member of this forum) and I will be taking a trip to Cannon Beach & the Columbia River Gorge in late August. We're going to spend the night at Cannon Beach so we can get sunset photos and sunrise photos. Any tips for us to get great photos here?

You will be in camera ready country for sure. The beach scene reminds me of my only visit there. The sand was strewn, as far as the eye could see, with a two inch thick mulch of jelly fish parts, (we were told) that spread from our feet out from well past the sea's edge to where the waves farthermost reach disturbed the near solid coating. I was surprised that, while there was odor, it was not all that obnoxious; certainly it was definite.
I am glad to see from these shots, that this condition was temporary. It is a great place to have a camera in hand.

 We also got great shots at Ecola Park, not far from this spot. Of course, spend time doing the waterfalls of the Columbia Gorge.
What beautiful photos!
This area of Oregon remains on my bucket list :)

Ecola Park is beautiful. Is it north or south of Cannon Beach?

slightly north
it has a wooden viewing platform, a short path on the bluff, at least one bench. There are some pictorial signs showing that this is where the Pacific end of the Lewis and Clark expedition ended.
Speaking of...also not far is Fort Clatsop, where Lewis and Clark wintered.

Very very good shots!
thanks; I appreciate your saying so
Beautiful Oregon photos for sure. The views without too much fog are second to no place in the world, except maybe Alaska.
Sue if you have not been to Oregon before be sure to allow plenty of time on your drive to stop at the Pull Outs and venture down the trails. Some of them have outstanding views which might work well with a sunset or sunrise. Remember there is a lot of fog in the am and pm but this can be a wonderful photo time if you are in the right place at the right time of day. Go on Google Earth and use it to plan your trip.
Oregon has the best roadside pullouts and amenities I have had the privilege to visit Do have a wonderful trip and if you are going soon the weather should be good for the summer. The fish is fabulous all along the coast.
