Young couple braving the spray at Victoria Falls.
This young couple caught my eye when we were at Vic Falls in Zimbabwe last month.

Your treatment of the back ground seems to work well here....well done.
Very nice work portraying the amount of spray that envelops those falls and the surrounding area.

Thanks, Frank, thanks, Bob. That spray really is something. The last time I was there was back in the mid-1980s but on the Zambian side. I had a Minolta 7000 in those days and I was certain my camera bag was waterproof. Unfortunately, I was wrong and the camera spent a while back with Minolta!

Your perspective cropped to show the magnificent width of that section of falls is great. And it brings back memories.
I was just there last month also. I know the exact spot they are standing. I put my camera under my poncho and stood there with my wife. The spray would shoot up for a minute and then collapse of it's own weight - happily drenching us.
Thanks for sharing your photo.
Thank you, Greg. We had a great safari, hope you did too.

While I would be frantically trying to get as many photos of the actual falls as possible, you seem to have gone a step beyond that here. Sure the falls are important to the composition; but it is the people and the spray that make the shot. By having the falls obscured in the mist; but the people as the main subject you really got an engaging photo. Hats off! This photo is, in my opinion, quite extraordinary.

That's very kind of you to say so, Erich. Thank you. Yes, I did take many of the pictures Falls but, whilst they are hugely impressive, I don't think still photos can really do it full justice from the public walkways. I am not a video person but I feel that video is a more appropriate medium for this spectacle and would have captured the Falls better. If I go back I will do a bit of video practice in advance. In some ways, I do regret not taking a flight over but it seemed so extremely expensive for a very short time and only being able to shoot through plexiglass.

I understand wanting to take a flight. While in Alaska years ago, I really wanted to fly over glacier Bay. Unfortunately the cost was completely prohibitive on a college budget. I haven't been back since, and when I see pictures of the place I always wonder if I should have spent one more month on Ramen noodles and have taken the flight. On the other hand I would have had such high expectations that almost anything would have probably been a letdown. See how we justify things! I'm certain those grapes would have been sour, anyway!

In 2000 we did a motorcycling trip around California, Nevada and Arizona. When we visited Grand Canyon we took a fixed wing sightseeing flight which I found disappointing photographically which coloured my decision this year I am sure.
