625 Miles from home in Michigan at my parents backyard in Crossville TN.
Normal trip ~9hrs. left 30min after last contact (full SUN again), decided to take ONLY back roads out of TN by avoiding any freeway wider than 2 lanes
Winding, twisting roads but discovered more beautiful woods & small towns.
Home within 10hrs. thru Ohio & Michigan late night Monday; actually not bad at all...
Great experience & fun with family
Mike

Here's the thing with me. It wasn't that spectacular based on all the buildup but, watching it on TV is Not the same experience as being there. That's the only thing I know for sure, totality was an experience that you had to experience totally by being there.

Must have been a bad day for the economy, all those people out of work. But, I'm sure the gasoline companies did ok!

Sorry I just had to... as I was in work all day and we only had 60% anyway. For those who got all those great photographs, I say, good for you, hope it was worth it.

You did the best that I have heard so far. We also went from Michigan to Madisonville Tennessee and back and because we were not knowledgable about the backroads it felt like a grueling boot camp trip. My shots are in no way as good as yours but I'm thinking the actual experience of being there just could not be conveyed in photos.

My digital photos, shot with a D5100 through a 300mm manual Nikon lens, are under exposed. I also shot a roll of Ektar 100 with an F3 through a 1000mm Nikon mirror lens. Hopefully it will have at least 1 good frame, as I bracketed quite a bit. Haven't processed it yet; maybe next week...
