For am upcoming trip, I an considering the purchase of a wireless remote shutter release ( ML-L3) as well as the WiFi adaptor (WU-1A).. Most of the reviews are OK although there are some complaints about the WIFI. My camera is the d7100.

I'm interested in UHH member experiences and suggestions. Enjoy your day!

I have gone through this very scenario and picked up the the ML-L3 and an electronic release only to find that I used them very little. When using a tripod I sometimes used the ML-L3 instead of a cable or had my wife trigger it when I had both hands on the camera/gimbal set up. Bottom line is that I didn't use these tools as much as I thought I would. The D7100 continues to serve us well!

Similar experience here with the ML-13. There are better ways: 10-pin cord, mirror lock-up, delayed shutter release. The remote is very small and hard to keep track of. Nikon brand is not necessary ($18-$20). There are lots of good ones for less. I paid $5 through Amazon. And the final straw: It uses an infrared beam and has to have direct line of sight to the camera. And if you want a selfie with the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, with infrared, you're absolutely limited to no more than 16 feet from the camera. Mine is now in a drawer full of other stuff I don't use.

I cut slits in the back of my little wireless remote and place on on each camera strap so there is always one with each camera. I use them once in a while. I would rather use a wired trigger. But if I forget my wired one the little wireless is with me.
