Sony Lens options

I just picked up a new Sony Alpha A7R II and it came with a canon lens with an adapter for full auto use, works well too, I purchased an adapter for my nikon lens this week but it hasn't arrived yet. Am I losing something with this setup over the Sony lens made for this camera, and would I be better off buying one of the better Sony lens. I shoot a little of everything, mostly outdoors, scenics, car shows, no sporting events which I might need fast shutter speeds and no weddings .

Reports that I have read indicate that the Nikon adapter is not as reliable or doesn't perform as well as the Canon version. Eye focus does not work with any of the adapted lenses - that is a really nice feature for portraits. The Sony will correct for Sony lens distortion in camera. I expect you will have to do it in PP for adapted lenses. I don't see any of those differences being of much consequence for the uses you intend.

I did notice a proclivity to hunt for focus sometimes but that was in the house up close in ambient light , I hope the nikon adapter works as advertised it was $300.

If it's an E-mount, look at the Tamron 18-200mm. I bought one from KEH to replace my Sony 55-200mm. Seeing no difference in the quality of the photos, I sold the Sony lens. I don't like lens adapters.

You will have best of all worlds. The Canon adapter seems to work much better than the Nikon. If you have Nikon lenses then at least you will be able to use them as well. Sony lenses are great but so are the Nikon and Canon and some of the Sigma and Tamron so you will be well rounded in your selection of lenses. Have fun and experiment.
