I decided to clean up my ragged yard this spring and build another Butterfly garden. My physician feels that exerting myself beyond my normal limits just might encourage my body to, perhaps, grow and develop bypasses on it's own to assist in combating the blockages from 50 years of smoking. The job turned out to be huge...I had several years of weed growth of all kinds...I elected to pull by hand and then try to use Roundup on any that came back. In addition, I planted over 100 perennials in #7 pots buried in the ground to attempt to thwart the voles. So far, I have lost only one plant to them...a thistle that was really pretty. I will have lots of pictures to post. I planted a little over 20 varieties of Coneflowers.

Please take care of yourself!

Wow, Bob! I know what a chore it is to weed so much by hand. My garden is overgrown as well and some over my head. Two years of not getting outside has made my work this fall a large undertaking. Don't know if I can accomplish it but I am going to try. I don't have heart problems but I do have Metastized Bone Cancer (from breast cancer) and it has taken over my energy. I am keeping my hopes for a wonderful garden next year! Take care!

As part of my re-hab project, I decided to build a new "Butterfly garden" this spring/summer. The Coneflower perennials were a large part of the plants. Haven't had them in years and I was pleasantly surprised at the selection available. These are a few of my flowers from one-year old plants. Hope you all are enjoying a great weekend!

As I was scrolling through your shots, the word that kept coming to mind was "lovely". And I see that was the first comment you received.
