Need Sony a6500 Flash Help

Yesterday I was shooting some photos using the on camera flash and when I depressed the button to take the picture the flash would flash 3 or 4 times and then take the photo. It never did that before. Have I changed a setting somewhere and what was happening. Thanks for any info.

Features like "red eye reduction" and "focus assist" can cause extra flashes to fire before the actual exposure is taken.

It sounds like Red Eye Reduction, but also check to see if it's set for rear curtain sync. That's what happened to me last week.
