Nicely done. A very happy scene, honest, relaxed expressions, well shot.

Thanks. Ethan would *not* look at the camera because the tv was on but it doesn't look too bad I think because his cousin Lexi is looking in approximately the same direction.

Sounds like my grandkids, once they are glued to the TV or their tablets they're stuck there. Great shot.

Thanks. The trouble was Ethan's cousins were playing the latest X-Box or similar game on the tv and it was Ethan's turn next!

Well done rafikphoto...if going to print I might eliminate the background door for distraction purposes..

Thanks, Frank. Yes, it would be fairly easy to mask and fill with the background colour from the left wall I think.

I like it. A lovely family. Nice that you were able to all get together. I love when that happens. I could see this on the wall or in a family album. Good image.

Thanks, Erich. We could only manage a couple of days all together in Portugal but it was great fun and well worth the effort by all.

No No No... not nicely done. Why be so polite?? The purpose of UHH is to Educate photographers. But I agree that it is a good "family snap-shot," type cherished for years.

Why do I say not nicely done? Improve by moving near the mentioned children-distracting; this TV would give a uniform background.

Crop the heck out of the photo.... tighten in on the faces that is the essences of the characters and is a portrait. Bring tight all around.

In any gathering like this the use of digital is without cost. Take multi photos from differing angles... and for gosh sake, turn off the TV that is distracting the children or utilize it to have them focus at the camera by being in front of the TV.

Though not quite a formal portrait, this one has far more personality and character. It's very nicely captured and processed.

It is a great shot for the album without doubt, but dpullum's right, the TV needs switching off - even if only to get the 'tantrum' shot!

Sure, however, this was a grab shot, not a posed setup.

Accepted. As such it is a great one for the family album, happy days!

I agree with the need for a close crop to emphasize the facial expressions.
For a "grab shot"...it is a most fortuitous one.
Under carefully controlled conditions of posing, positioning, lighting, and cajoling...it seems kids still look where they damned please, but you grabbed the moment of your daughter's wonderful expression and gaze that ties this image all together.
Family grab shots are but rarely of this quality!
