I just had UPS pick up the second Roku Ultra from me to return to Amazon because they are being shipped with bad video cards. The video has a pink overlay on the entire screen. Amazon initiated the return and paid for it. It was all their doing. A couple of hour later I get an email form Amazon with this statement:
Refund total: $110.37**
Refund will appear on your Visa in 3-5 business days.
* This is an advanced refund. If we don't receive the item listed above, we may charge your original payment method.
In other words if UPS loses a shipment that they initiated and paid for (quite possibly failed to insure it) and they know it was picked up by UPS and they don't receive it, they are going to try to recharge my card. In doing so, it would be fraud; yet they openly admit to threatening to commit a crime? Corporations are worse and worse all the time. In a way, I'd like to see them try to charge my card if they do not receive it. They know UPS has it; that is the thing here; I have no control what happens to it from here and yet they think they can hold me responsible?
I never had any problems with Amazon. Didn't you get a recede from UPS? The recede is your proof that UPS has the product just send Amazon a copy.

I not only got a receipt but the fact that they sent me the email refunding my money proves Amazon knows UPS has picked it up. I have had a lot of trouble with Amazon in the last few years.

I too have never had any problems with Amazon and I've purchased a good deal of merchandise and books from and through them and I've returned merchandise to them. If you have so many problems with Amazon and continue to have problems with Amazon then I suggest you stop using their services.

No they won't.
Why do folks post things like this?
If you initiate the return but keep the merchandise, they will change gears and take their money back.
Simple.
The title of this thread should have been "Amazon goes above and beyond for their customers"

Maybe they'll make a special exception for you. Yeah, sounds like a lot of trouble. Why don't you stop doing business with them and avoid all these huge problems. Why should they trust you? How about you put a brick in the box or do something else that's fraudulent? I have personally seen people return a defective faucet all packed and neatly re-banded in the box, only to find the one they discarded in the box when inspected.

Obviously, it Amazon does not receive the item, they are not going to give you a refund. I've never had a problem with UPS coming or going. There is a tracking number, so UPS can tell you (and Amazon) what happened to the package.

Recede? Could we possibly mean receipt?

what do you expect from a company that sells at a loss??? LOL They asked Jeff Bezos how he can afford to sell things at a 15% loss. His answer was "VOLUME....VOLUME". (that was a joke)
Amazon shipped me the wrong thing once and I initiated the return. They sent me a note and told me to keep the "wrong" item and they would ship me the correct one. Can't be MORE fair than that!!!

I too have had that happen.

I've benn purchasing and occasionally returning a lot of stuff from/to Amazon since 1997. All merchandise return fees except when my return reason was "changed my mind," were paid for by Amazon. I've had, at most, only a handful of times that required "a discussion" with Amazon customer to get things resolved to my satisfaction.

They know that UPS has a package. They do not know that it contains the correct item. You could have sent them a rock, instead. If so, they are correct in cancelling your refund by charging you for the same amount that they already gave you. Amazon was quite generous in giving you a refund. They trusted that you that you sent them the correct item and not a rock. Perhaps, you should shop locally and help your community's economy.
I took the easy way out and ordered both solar eclipse glasses and a camera lens filter from Amazon three weeks or so ago. They subsequently initiated a full refund of my purchase cost because they couldn't verify either the glasses or filter met ISO standards. They did not ask that the items be returned. I think that's pretty good proactive action on their part.
