A Plethora of Petals

So many flowers this summer, yet so short lived and now waning. I was trying to think of a creative way to show the many beautiful varieties. There are so many beautiful floral portraits presented on the UHH forum and I was trying to come up with something different, so they don't become "just another flower image".

For me the whole image is a touch out of focus carlysue or my eyes are. The white is overpowering your well composed image. You did well showing variety without question and it is creative..I think you should give it a bit more thought as you are close to achieving your goal.

Looking at it on this screen, I think I agree with you Frank. The white is a bit overpowering as are the reds. I did find that clicking on the image so that the background is black helped. I struggle with images where there is no one identified subject, just the whole of the sum. I appreciate you looking, and your comments. thanks.

Just fyi carlysue I never comment on an image without first downloading and inspecting it a bit further...I don't feel it fair to the presenter to make comment just from the UHH thumbnail, thank you for not taking offense as I am always just trying to give an honest, straightforward opinion.....and always remember that's all it is..an opinion as I've no qualifications for anything else..

A veritable kaleidoscope of krazy kolor! Very creative, and with that white background, a great deal of punch! Kudos for the thought processes here, Carla!

In the first instant of viewing, I saw a curled snake I love your goal of wanting to present a different way, and to show the great variety. Something about the deliberate positioning doesn't quite work for me, though.

If you are not fully satisfied (per your reply to Frank), perhaps try a closer shot, with fewer petals and more casual/random placement? A fun and worthwhile endeavor, whatever you decide.

Great to see you, Carla!

Quite interesting carlysue. You've almost created a flower creature with this composition.

Holy Cow Carly Sue that is fantastic!. What a beautiful image. I love the way you displayed the petals and blooms. Just scattering them about for the shot wouldn't have been nearly as effective. Fine work.

A very original idea that's worth pursuing. I agree with comments that the red and white are a bit too much. For the background you could try different tints and graduations. And you could try arrangements that are reminiscent of things, without worrying too much about accuracy.

This is different, and quite creative. I like it a lot. I'm assuming that you arranged them all painstakingly. Did you use a light box for your background. If so, did you need flash to make the pedals show detail? Just curious. See, you got me thinking.

I do appreciate that,Frank, and I do expect comments to be truthful or instructive. Kudos are certainly encouraging but not always warranted. I take it all in and still decide what is best from my perspective. All opinions are welcomed.

I do love your kaleidoscope comparison, TP! The background is a light box, yet I did have to remove some shadows and that was a bit painstaking. I think I have too much time and effort tied up here and need to walk away for a bit so I'm not so emotionally tied to it.
