it take time here to master some of these short words just because some MWAC can understand what is PS, PS5 or ah PS6 BFF or it is BBF? We all don't know do we? Sometime we just pretend that we KNOW!!!!
There is more of course - CC or it is C&C, T2i,CP, UV, FL,ND,and of course graduated ND,ND2, ND4,ND8, CIR UV,Lee, B+H, HiTech,
Singh-Ray,(Charles?) and then good CPL,IS,DSLR,SLR,7x Tele,RAW,LR4, PP,PSE10,CPU, GPU, RAM,HD,DIY,Kr,IR, Kr is built by Pentax you know!
And there is of course even more....
I believe it is enough for now, lol, This is exactly what we need here TD&E (Technical Dictionary and Explanations) i think

Hmmm . . . how about He, Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe, and Rn?

Here's a start for figuring out the terms:
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-26493-1.html

And there is always Google, Yahoo and Dogpile.

That's funny...I've done the same thing....nodded my head sagely when people use terms and then wonder what in the heck they just said!

Well that is why our noble member Nikonian72 created one and snowbear here has provided the link. It helps out a great deal. I know my computer has also searched google a lot to find out information on things I didn't understand. In fact the computer knew better what I was searching for than I did when I first started.

Snowbear: Why the noble gases out of all the elements? It has been a few years, but Chemistry was one of my favorite subjects.

There is more of course - CC(constructive criticism) or it is C&C, T2i(a rebel camera made by Canon),CP(circular polarizer), UV(Ultraviolet), FL(flash?),ND(neutral density), and of course graduated ND,ND2, ND4,ND8(different strengths of the same thing), CIR UV(Circular Ultraviolet, generally referred to as Ultraviolet Circular Polarizer), Lee, B+H, HiTech, Singh-Ray,(manufacturers and distributors of photographic products) (Charles?) and then good CPL(Circular polarizer but an incorrect abbreviation for such, usually CPF), IS(Image stabilization), DSLR(Digital Single Lens Reflex),SLR(Single Lens Reflex, usually refers to the film counterpart),7x Tele(7 times the magnification),RAW(The file produced by the camera sensor, with no processing done to it),LR4(Lightroom 4, an Adobe product for -->, PP(Post Processing) ,PSE10(Photoshop Elements V10, also for PP),CPU(Central Processing Unit), GPU(Graphics Processing unit), RAM(Random Access Memory),HD(High Density, High Definition, or hard drive, take your pick) ,DIY(Do it Yourself), Kr(you apparently already know the answer to this one),IR(Infrared), Kr is built by Pentax you know!
And there is of course even more....

Besides the link that was provided, I hope I've answered all your questions. If you do enough reading, and you'll do lots of that on this forum, you'll eventually learn these terms and they become second nature. ;)

No particular reason. It's been many years for me, as well.

Well, actually in the Navy we had the DicNavAb. Which was the acronym for the Dictionary of Naval Abbreviations. But it did not include the term DicNavAb.
One more, the term TLA stands for three letter acronym

The USN had more acronyms that included other acronyms that we figured it had to be the Navy's response to the Enigma machine!
Sometimes even the brass had no idea what was being communicated in compounded acronymese.
DicNavAb indeed! Thanks!

It's scary, but I realize that I know what most of those terms mean. Imagine if I had put that effort into actually accomplishing something.
