I usually clean my own senor and after posting a photo the other day it was pointed out that I missed all the dust spots on the sensor and boy there were a lot so I pulled out my trusty SensorKlear Loupe kit, along with the eyelead sensor gel stick kit, these usually get the job done and I don't need to do a wet cleaning but.... this time it didn't work guess my trip to Tuolumne county and then over to Aptos near Santa Cruz really sent the dust and possibly beach sand into the body, so today I had to go to the VA in Tucson and took my D800 to Tucson Camera Repair shop, this was the first time I have visited there and had work done, I came back 2 hours later from my appointment and the camera was finished they not only cleaned the sensor but did the entire body as well including the mirror which had specks on it, the camera outside was cleaned they popped the screen protector off and cleaned the screen, cost $65. bucks and was well worth it. When I got home I was in pain still from the dental work replacing my denture pegs which hold my teeth in so only took a sample shot on paper to see if dust was present on sensor there was non they did an excellent job and got it finished very quickly if I would have dropped the camera off and picked it up next week when I have to go back to the VA it would have cost me $45. dollars they charged extra for same day service it was well worth the extra to me so that I can get out tomorrow and have a nice day shooting some landscapes think I may head over to Bisbee haven't been over there in a couple months. I highly recommend these guys they are friendly, quick and do a great job if you ever get over there drop in and check their store out they look like there is a nice selection of equipment oh and I am wanting one of the new grey Nikon hats they look pretty nice should have picked one up while there but wanted to get home and lay down the pain was excruciating as the dentist cut my skin away to the bone and torqued in the new pegs so they wouldn't fall out again not kidding they used a small torque wrench ouch. Holy cow I must be bored look at how long I went on anyway check these folks out I am impressed.

A little disappointing they are only showing Nikon equipment on their page. Need a little love for us Canonites. Of course, it's not gonna be easy to get my equipment from California to Southern Arizona for my three free sensor cleanings, (with purchase) but it's a nice perk.

They sell Nikon mostly by the looks of what I saw in the shop, but he was working on a Canon cleaning when I was there. Heck Northern California has quite a few decent shops when I move back up to the Jamestown area in a couple of months I will use Samy;s over in the Bay area, it's always fun to spend a couple days in San Francisco.

How often do you change lenses in the open?

I'm surprised that a D800 isn't better sealed than that. I've been using DSLR for about ten years now, and I've never {knock on wood} had a dirty sensor issue.

Whenever I want to shoot a different perspective ie I use a 17-35mm wide angle and 24-70mm for wide landscapes use the 70-200mm for closer in shots like surfers,
otters, singling out a mountain or tree or rock etc. So quite a bit, that is lucky that you never had a sensor cleaned guess it is a part of getting out in many different conditions where I feel the need for a different lens, usually do the cleaning myself but sometimes just to much dust for me better to have it done by someone that's set up for it and it gets a good thorough body cleaning and checkup.

TCR only handles Nikon. They have a large stock of clean, used gear— and will order new gear with fast turn around. Unless you have been a Canon dealer you probably don't know how the Big C treats the small dealer; it can cost the Little D more to sell their cameras than the Little D makes from the sale— therefore SE AZ has lost all its once upon a time Big C dealers.

You mean only sells Nikon gear, right? Seems like their website says they do repairs on most of the major brands.

I was not aware their was a repair shop in Tucson, good to know.
