And so it begins, the oldest grandkids are twin 8 year olds. Yesterday, they started to learn to sail. Luckily the winds were light (lol, almost too light). My daughter used my camera to take pictures and I forgot to tell her about back button focusing hence the focus is non too great. However, Grandpa is still proud as punch as the little one has learned to steer with the tiller!

That is way cool on a great number of levels.
No need for her to worry about back button focus. Just press the shutter release 1/2 way and pause just a bit. That'll get things focused.

I mentioned to my daughter had she just switched it from aperture priority to auto that the focus would have worked off the shutter button like she was used to or that she could have switched af off on the lens and manual focus, but hey, it was sailing lesson day, not camera 101
It was one fun afternoon and I am hoping for many more!!!

Very nice, and learned to sail on a very similar boat many years ago!

Thanks for commenting, I learned on a larger keelboat so I missed this fun action packed type of sailing. The eight year olds are very adventerous, they are looking forward to the wind "tipping them over" in their words. Hopefully a couple more trips out this weekend, been very rainy and stormy up here this summer.
