I have an 80-200mm AF-S Nikkor f/2.8D telephoto on which the autofocus stopped working. This lens is way out of warranty and I want to have Nikon repair it; I'm willing to pay whatever it takes. How do you find out how to connect with the proper Nikon department so to do?
That can depend on where you live. In which country do you live?

You can send it to Melville, New York or to Los Angeles, CA. Sometimes Authorized Local Repair Shops that are close by can do the repair work. But before you do that, check business ratings and reviews. Good luck.
You can even go to the Nikon site online and submit your query.

The Nikon web site would be a good place to look.

Here we go again.
Where are we going?!
Apparently the OP was either looking for a way to start a conversation or, well, I won't go there. If they can post to UHH they obviously have Internet access and the obvious answer is go to the Nikon Web site and look it up.

I gave all the help I could.

Call 800-NIKON-USA and ask for Tech Support.
When I posted this I was frustrated by spending half an hour trying to get to a website with Google searches. Since I posted I have discovered that my problems were caused by the new software that AOL forced on us. I've restored my computer to an earlier date before I installed the AOL software and have used Firefox to get back here. I've also successfully found the necessary info, and have already packaged up my lens and sent it to Nikon in Los Angeles. The estimate to fix it (autofocus doesn't work) was $250.00. You have to give them cc information (from which I assume they may charge your card for the estimate plus shipping (which, with $2K insurance was $41 from me to them), then you get label printout and shipping manifest. I did this all because I noticed on the original Nikon box that I paid $1,985.00 for the lens 15-20 years ago. I think to replace this with equivalent lens would be quite a bit more than $2K today. Anyway, thanks to everyone here who helped me out.

AOL is not "forced" on anyone. The only problems I've ever heard of was from those who chose to use it.
