Continuing on with the tour, the next stop was the General Store.... a place where you could find anything that you could possibly need.... even sit and play a nice friendly game of checkers!!! The checker pieces were made from dried corn cobs!!
This was the Layton Store & House c. 1866, John M. Layton.... moved here from East Norwich, NY
Hope you enjoy this set..... life wasn't easy, but they made do...

Very well done, Angela. The green jars remind me of when my mother did canning with all the garden vegetables at the end of the season. Is that you in the little white bonnet?

Hahahaaa.... John, you pegged me, I always go shooting in that get-up!! I enjoyed the chuckle and glad you enjoyed this set and that it brought back fond memories!!

I've got to show these to Vic. He made his own checkerboard but not the pieces. He'll love this one.
