Has anyone used this lens on a D810 and what was your experience? Thanks for any comments

If you want affirmation to buy the lens or the camera--you will certainly receive it.
The Sigma ART lenses are unparalleled in quality and performance. See if you can rent one for a few weeks before you buy the DG version for Fx.
I have had the camera for 2 or 3 years and the focus went bad but I still used in Alaska and Yukon for 3 weeks and had some success and now going to DC for a few days next month and
I have checked on the 24-105. Oh the camera went to Nikon for repair and is now ready for more work.

I recently purchased that 24-105 ART lens for use on my D810. As background, I'm not a fan of mid-range zoom lenses. Typically use Primes. Never bonded with the Nikon 24-70 (always seemed to be just a tad too short for the shot I wanted). I rented and tried the Nikon 24-120 (not a bad lens, just did not seem to 'pop'). Read every review I could find and settled on the Sigma. Glad I did. Very crisp images, reminiscent of the ART 35mm. The bokeh isn't at all bad, but may not be at the level of Nikon 85mm. The ART is, like most Sigma's, a bit large and heavy. I've read about some issues regarding focus acquisition accuracy and speed, but have had no issues there. Some may not like the maximum aperture of 4.0 -- both for isolation purposes vs. the 2.8, and for low light; that has not been an issue for me. Overall, if you're looking for a general purpose mid-range zoom to use when you can't or don't want to be changing Primes and where you want just a little extra reach, from my experience I would highly recommend this 24-105 ART lens.
Thank you very much William.

Thank you for the assurance. I don't usually ask I just buy. The Hedgehog helps me in many ways. I just take pictures for me and my family to remember when.

Great lens. I have used it for about 3 years on both DX and FX cameras. Always sharp.

I have both the lens and the body. I am a big fan of Sigma ART series lenses and own three. Purchased the 24-105 as a walk around and am pleased with everything except the weight. Very good combination IMHO. Best of luck.
