Nikon AF-P 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E VR Lens versus the Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G
I have read many good reviews about both of these lenses. The AF-P version is the latest DX offering whereas the earlier AF-S version is an older lens for full frame models. I understand most of the basic differences between the two lens in terms of build quality, weight, focusing speed, and the like. What I have yet to find in my research is a direct comparison of the image quality and color rendition between the two lenses. For an APS-C sensor camera, which lens will perform better? Also, previous readers and reviewers have mentioned the drop in sharpness on the older AF-S /FX lens as it approaches 300 mm. Is the same true for the newer AF-P model for DX Cameras?
By the way, both lenses are compatible with my APS-C Nikon camera.
Thanks in advance!

My first post was confusing and poorly written. Thought I'd clarify my questions so folk could understand better.
Unless there is another model, the AF-P is full-frame.
Nikon's link to the lens
HERE(Nothing to keep it from working well on a DX body)
Wow! There are actually 2 new AF-P lenses- one for DX @, $400 and the FF @$750! Plus the older AF-S which was/is FF at $500. Still begs the question of whether they are optically equivalent.

Your first post was written clear enough for anyone capable of understanding what they read. And the suggestion to read Rockwell's review is as valid now as when it was given. Did you bother to check it?

Thought my laptop was lapsing.

I see it now.
KR seems to like it, though I'd check other reviews.
http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/70-300mm-vr-afp.htmA plastic lens mount on something that long bothers me.
Might be ok for occasional use, but I've seen two shorter lenses with the mount broken off.
