Early evening after snowfall. Some sun remaining and hidden by a moving cloud. I'm so enamored with snow on the ground, that, oftentimes, I forget to look up! Glad I did this time.

aaaaaha! the halo is to the extreme ++ Yes!
So that instead of being a photo defect it is part of the photo!!! Excellent indeed ... what a good Idea.

I must plead ignorance...lol.
I have not had a decent DSLR and I admit that I have never had a class in photography! Thus, I like what you said, but do not understand fully. Whatever I did with "the halo effect" was a happy accident, I think?!
Embarrassing to admit this but I think it's a good thing???
