Heading to this extremely isolated plateau just north of the Mount Olympus massif, while the good weather holds.
Just a preview shot of some nice country. Will ascend the headwall in the shadows, and crest the ridge to get down to the lakes and small plateau.
One of my camps will be in that green little gap in the ridge above and left of the lakes themselves.
You can see, across the void, a few of the lobes of the glaciers of Mount Olympus. Should be a spectacular camp.
Will be rising out of the Hoh River valley via a branch tributary, following elk trails and soaring timber ribs to get into open country, then traversing the basin to get under the headwall.
Anyway, like I said, just a preview - the image was taken by Greg Thies, and is posted with his permission. I am happy to have this shot for reference.
Will more than likely haul the Pentax 645 and 45-85/4.5 lens up there. I am a glutton for punishment.
Wow! and have a safe trip.

Be safe. Kudos for bringing such a large and heavy camera along. On my hike in Vermont, I could not wait to get to town and mail my DSLR home. lol

Looks awesome. Will you be running down that slope for an early morning dip?

Larry,
Can't wait to see your images!
Is this to be a solo trip?
At what elevations will your hike begin and ultimately reach? Will it involve clean rock mountaineering? My imaginings of your impending trip are wonderful, wildly inaccurate tho' they might be.
How much film do you take on a trip such as this?
Be as safe as you can countenance, and have a great experience!
Dave
I do so look forward to your images. Beautiful place!
That is truly wonderful. I look forward to seeing the beautiful images you bring back.

Yes, certainly. Screaming like a madman until hit that ice cold water, then turning into a eunuch.
