This a subjective subject - one man's meat another man's . . .
Here's my interpretation of you image: the head feathers whiter, beak without scratches. black background to concentrate the viewers eye on the beautiful bird, sharpened a little more.

Nooooo! Why take out the detail in the beak? It's there. It's part of the bird. The background was fine. All that was needed was to move the white feathers to something closer to white than the muddy yellow-gray we see in the original. Otherwise it was a competent shot.

I respect your opinion as it is valid. This was my interpretation of the image. OK, I over-cooked it while struggling to learn a new program, I was having fun. I hope you find something you like when I get the hang of it (I'm talking about Affinity Photo). That's why we are here, in this PP section, to learn and have fun, which I hope we all do. I enjoyed your comment, however I don't agree with not cleaning up the beak, but that's just my 2 cents worth.

Look on the bright side, no pun intended, you are still learning. Something I always try to do. Good for you.

Thanks for your kind support, RRS. At the age of 80 I am still able to learn. Wonderful!

It doesn't look over-processed, so in that sense there's nothing obviously wrong with it. However, that doesn't mean that it's as good as it could be. One of the advantages of putting a shot up for feedback is that the extra eyes can see things that you didn't, like possible improvements. Even if you use generous amounts of visualisation and experimentation, there's always the possibility that there's something that you're missing.

Another possibility is that you can end up with editor fatigue if you spend too long working on the same image, which can leave you blind to its shortcomings, or unable to see its full potential.

Thats exactly what I look for. I'm always open to constructive criticism. Many people took the time to try and improve the image , Some I like, so I hated...so thanks everyone for your efforts .
