Just checked it out on my a7ii, Menu-settings-live view display- setting effects on or off, on you see what the picture would look like at the setting you have, off you see an image on the EVF that looks like the lighting the room is in like you would with an SLR with the exception that the lens is still stopped down so you see the depth of field, the view finder just adjusts the light level so you can see at the natural light level.
