There was much discussion, much appreciated, about the three 'negative' space shots I posted. I read over all of the critiques and will look at whether I feel I need to edit my three photos accordingly. I posted a comment at the end of the prior post which went into why I find negative space compositions so interesting, a remnant of my painting training in art school.

I didn't see your previous post; however, I like the one you have above. I started a continuing post of "Special Effects Challenge" on which they would receive better appreciation. The images are a selection from all the participants with what they especially like to do in digital alterations. Don't be discouraged, I like your image.

I often allow for space in an image for subjects to move/look into or flowers/plants to grow into. And sometimes you need a dark or light space to balance the other. Photography is little different from art, so whatever techniques are used in art can be used in photography just as successfully.
I like the curvature of the leaves and wonder if a darker blue sky will accentuated the red leaves better.
