Gorgeous reds, Sherry, and the little greenie is a cutie! Not sure if the dude is fouling, or if it's a dudette, and she's laying.

Thanks, Angela. Reds in the very bright sun - what could go wrong with that? There was a skipper peeping at the edge and then went deep inside the bloom. He would not pose, though.

Thank you, Donna. It could be a dudette, but isn't that a strange place to lay eggs? Dude or dudette, I think it's pooping. But taking another look, she does seem to be grasping the edge of the petal - maybe to give some leverage for pushing. Oh, never mind, that still isn't determinative, is it?

She's definitely a picture of distress, Sherry, while in the one above she has a more leisurely hold on the petal. LOL

Sherry, these are beautifully done! Reds are indeed difficult as I have found many times. The grasshopper is cute!
