Besides the mount what else could be plastic. And if not an everyday used lens ( just now and then and for fun) how long should it last if taken care of.
Also can you help me find a comparison link to the tokina 11-20 dx. Thank you all in advance.

The question is, how long do you expect to live? I believe you could take that lens with you when you go. Does that answer your question. If you don't drop it, it should last your lifetime. But who knows for sure?
Do not be afraid of a plastic lens mount because they last. If it breaks it is very cheap to fix it.
The majority of lenses made today have lots of plastics but do not think of them as cheap lenses because those plastics are of excellent quality. If you do not drop the lens most probably it will last for a lifetime. Drop a metal made lens and it will suffer also and who knows maybe the repairs are more expensive.
If I was in need of that lens I would buy it without hesitation. It is a bargain.
Be careful of the edges in this lens. Tried was not acceptable.

Instead of paying attention to a sketchy review with no detail, I would read a serious review like this one or others:
http://www.imaging-resource.com/lenses/nikon/10-20mm-f4.5-5.6g-vr-af-p-dx-nikkor/review/#shootingA friend of mine just got through testing the lens (his review is at the end of the Imaging-resource review) and was very favorably impressed.
I am going to purchase this lens although I already own the Tokina 11-16.
Been around a while. When Nikon first started making "plastic" lenses, the "Nikon folks" about went crazy. "Gonna fall apart". "Not gonna last". "Image quality will suffer." My "go to" lens for the past decade-and-a-half is and has been one of their "plastic" lenses which, when tested, was found to be among the sharpest they have ever made. Took it to Death Valley and Arizona as well as the UK and Norway this year. Odds are good you will be pleased.
