WOW... That's a surprise. I thought Canon was supposed to be the benchmark for 35mm photography.. exscuuuuse me... DSLR photography... Not that I'd be shooting with anything in that range... but I must say I'm surprised. Now I don't feel so bad being a Nikon user....(not that I ever did in the first place... I guess you just never know...

I love my 5DS R and I love my 5D MkIV. I am very satisfied with the quality of the output I get so I'll leave him to fret.

Recently bought a Canon G15,sent in the warranty form as requested. When the flash did not work, contacted Canon, told me $200 to repair as I did not have sales slip. Went to independent shop that pointed out my error in attempted operation, charged me $7 for postage ! Think I will pass on Canon hereafter.

IMO, there is some truth to his proposition about Canon playing it close to the line in terms of holding back on some innovations available in several competitors' comparable bodies. This was highlighted by the raucous reaction on the many forums regarding the recent release of the 6D Mark ll, which I was planning to purchase. The sensor appears to be considerably inferior to what was expected, and perhaps even worse than the current 6D, in terms of dynamic range and noise at low ISO levels. The general reaction among a large number of seemingly level-headed professionals was essentially, "What were they thinking?" I love Canon products and have a nice array of "L" lenses, and so I wound up recently buying the 5D Mark lV, which I am extremely pleased with. So, if the crippling of the 6D2 was designed to persuade me, as an owner of lots of Canon lenses, to have to upgrade to the more profitable (presumably) 5D4, they succeeded. However, there are several market segments, especially those without a collection of Canon FF lenses, who will probably explore the competitive landscape much closer after the justifiably (IMO) disappointing reviews of the 6D2. I think this will be interesting to watch over the next 3 years or so.

Sounds like Canon is getting as bad as Nikon. Seems terrible customer service and bumbling new products is catching too. Soon we will be back to the Kodak 110 pieces of ****

Hopefully, this thread wont turn out to be a Nikon VS Canon... I don't think I can take anymore of that.

I have never had one problem with Canon's customer service.

I cannot agree with the gentleman writing the article when saying that Fuji is helping or buying Nikon. Those are only rumors. Nikon has said they are restructuring the company whatever that means.
I think that all companies have suffered from the fall in sales of dSLR cameras. Since their introduction mirrorless cameras have come a long way and right now they are selling like ice cream in front of a school.
I am not familiar with Sonny or Fuji. I have always admired Fuji colors but I could also say that I am pleased with the colors I get from my Olympus M43 bodies. We are all different and while some prefer saturated colors my tendency is to go with pastel colors. I twist colors with my Nikon bodies to get the colors I like using Picture Control. The first generation of Nikon colors and the D200 and D2X come to mind, had the colors I like and prefer in my photographs.
Canon and Nikon did not pay much attention to the mirrorless cameras. They are beginning now to realize that the market for those cameras continues to rise and I know that sooner than later they will have cameras that will compete with the present ones. Nikon just announced a new mirrorless is coming with advanced features. I believe it will be a full frame mirrorless.
Since I do not use Canon cameras I cannot make any comments on the statements made about Canon.

I could not agree more with this article. Canon finally gave non-professional users an articulating screen on a full frame camera (only about 10 years later than they should have) but fell so short on upgrade features that I have no doubt it will be an epic fail. I just hope Canon will not blame their upgrade failings on the articulating screen and not include it on future FF offerings.

With that said, I am amazed to see numerous Canon robot users obviously programmed just to buy the latest camera release. Come on people, look at the overwhelmingly lacking features and initial picture quality reviews! Send Canon a message by not buying into their self serving marketing policy rather than showing their loyal user appreciation by giving us decent feature upgrades, at least equivalent to lower priced and quality cameras in their own lineup!

My two cents worth, keep the change!
