Just excellent! Thanks for sharing.

I appreciate the nice comment Jeff. They were not the focus of the expedition but I couldn't pass up the chance to photograph them. I'm glad you enjoyed them.

Indeed they are beautiful, Doc, and I'm so glad you shared them! Costa Rica is one place I'd love to go! (But I know I never will, so I'll enjoy it through your pictures!).

Costa Rica is beautiful Sue but it was hotter and more humid than last week! The exception was two days we were in Monteverde where I shot these hummingbirds. We were at 5550' and the weather was quite pleasant. Thanks for taking the time to look at this installment and I'm so glad you liked them.

Hi Pat. So glad you enjoyed viewing them. They are beautiful creatures. It was hotter and more humid there than any place I've ever been. I could live in the cloud forest where I shot these hummingbirds but not in the lowlands by the ocean. Hope we can get together at Thanksgiving. Where are you off to next?

I thank you for that dennyo. They did turn out pretty good but I tell people I'm not a photographer like so many here on the Hog. I'm just a taker of pictures. I shoot about 90% dragon and damselflies for the county survey and at surveys around the country. Not a lot of artsy goes into it when you need the right angels and making sure you get the field markings for proper identification. Thanks for looking in and for the very fine comment. I won't let it go to my head. Have a great day!

I just returned from a 10 day dragonfly expedition to Costa Rica. It was amazing. The accommodations were a bit spartan and the food was different and good. When I'm here in PA surveying for dragons the main thing to watch out for is not getting stuck in the goo in bogs and wetlands. There you had to watch out for that and crocodiles. At the one lagoon we surveyed we were told to be careful because 4 dogs were taken so far this year! They were there and we saw them. (Didn't lose anyone). So why start with hummingbirds? I wanted to show my fellow Hoggers more than just dragons and damsels. I'm not a bird shooter but these guys were everywhere and so beautiful. I'm not sure of some of the names others I am sure of. If you have corrections pleas feel free to let me know. I hope you enjoy my first installment in this series.

i love all your colorful beautiful little hummer shots doc. what a wonderful variety, and i'm glad you didn't
disappear like those dogs. the plants and flowers the hummers drink from must have been beautiful and
abundant in costa rica.
