Being the very long telephoto and small sensor how bad is noise...I realize that there is so many variables including the processor.... Focus time on the long length ?....is it slow for birding or sports?.....trying to figure if it is worth adding to my quiver....would you purchase this a second time? Thanks in advance
If these types of cameras did everything equally well, we’d all be buying them, wouldn’t we? Who wants to take a bunch of lenses around when you can just have ONE? Of course there are compromises. Speed, sharpness, just to name two. But there is the convenience factor. And, for many out there, speed and sharpness are not as important.

My wife uses her P-900 and took this Bluebird standing in our living room shooting out the picture window.
She loves the Zoom she has. The bird was about 30 feet away. hope this helps.

Your wife did very good! Sharp, nice color and contrast. But I'm wondering what was in the background .

seagull5, From what I've read here on UHH, the Canon SX 50 & 60 are probably the most popular and liked of that type camera. Enjoy it and good shooting.
BTW keep an eye out for those seagulls flying overhead; the eat and excrete cement, and if you are the target, it often makes an embarrassing mess! (:<((

Forgive my asking but how did your wife get a bluebird to stand in your living room? How did it shoot out the picture window. Have you had the window replaced yet?
Dennis
I will be the one with tongue firmly planted in cheek.

I’m wondering how many windows she’s shot out that way? Gotta be a pain (pane?) to replace all the time

That gave me pane/pain. Cute thought. Words and punctuation do matter.

I've used my P900 for a few long distance shots. This one is from a SF Giants game, I was approx 100yds away up in left field, no tripod, hand held. I couldn't believe the capture, not the greatest, but it filled the frame...

Nice picture and the focus sharpness is better than I ever got at that distance.
