Photoshop and/or Lightroom certification training.
Please share with me any information you may have regarding training leading to increasing one's efficiency in the subject category. There are tons of ads, but the quality of their training is the main question I need answered. Thanks.
Are you looking to learn or need a lambskin?
There is a lot of training out there that is free for the learning, and there are schools that will teach the same material for several hundred and then give you a certificate. The certificate is great to hang on a wall, impress your boss and make a big deal out of when you have HR put it in your personnel training file, but that certificate will not improve your photography nor your post processing one iota.
Of course, un-certified learning will not fill up a resume either.
If it is just for your own edification, Laura Shoe is really good on Lightroom. I learned from her videos and she sometimes has free lessons on internet. Anyone else out there familiar with her?
I use PH learn. PHlearn.com. It is a video series by Aaron Nass. He is excellent. It is a subscription for $9.95 a month. Drop out anytime. He also does Photoshop.
Check out Lynda.com. This has training material that is used for colleges and companies everywhere as well as people trying to learn. They have tutorials from crawl to run.
Look into courses at your local community college. If you are a senior they can be extremely inexpensive! Especially if you purchase an older edition text book online.
Lynda is by far my favorite

There are gobs and gobs of training videos on the web for PS & LR. However, in my opinion, very few of them provide a 'structure' for learning either of these tools. If there is a specific thing you want to do, and you need a quick refresher on how it is done, these videos are worthwhile. But, to decide you're gonna learn something about LR or PS today and you simply go to Youtube to start watching videos, you'll be disappointed with the eventual results.
I suggest a foundation of learning that has some sort of structure that gives insight to how the app works. For LR, I typically recommend the book 'Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classroom in a Book'. It's available at Amazon and other stores. You'll be a LR guru after reading the book. True story.
I recommend Matt Kloskowski's latest training course. He teaches the use of PS for the LR user. It's a very good course, and again, it provides needed structure.
Hope this helps.
Lynda provides an excellent structure for Lightroom, Photoshop, and many other programs.

I've never looked at Lynda, but have heard much good about it. I'm sure you are correct.
My point is that a new user needs to know (as an example!!) what chromatic aberration is, what it looks like and how to fix it with the tool of choice. That new user will not know to search Youtube for 'chromatic aberration' if they don't have that understanding.
Thanks for the input. I now have an idea where to start.

To me, the best training is a good book, you can take all the time you need, no pressure and there are fantastic books!
