There is a saying that goes, there are no dumb questions. Apparently, the person who fist said this was not a member of this site.
Dumb question #1: What camera should I buy? Nobody, but you cares which one you buy. How about doing some research on your own? You are online, look at flicker see what the camera does for other people. Read reviews, there are more than you will probably read. I have no clue, as to how much money you have or what kind of pictures you want to take. Full framed or a crop camera? The list is endless. Another great quote is, the most important thing about a camera is the 6 inches behind it [ your brain] use it will ya.
Dumb question #2: What lens should I buy? Please refer to above answer. Insert Lens for camera .
Dumb Question #3: I am going on vacation, what lens should I take? All of them! Did you buy them to look at or use? F#k me, If I didn't have room, l would back my gear first, pay the extra bag fee or buy some cheap clothes, when I got to where I was going. Give them to charity when you leave.
I realize there are people who are new to photography, we all were. But for Gods sake use your own decision making skills. It is really up to you and no one else

If you google long enough you will probably find a forum where the members don't waste your valuable time with dumb questions like we do here. Not to worry, we won't miss you.

I'm the one that asks the dumb questions. 🤓... and I learn something each time I ask.

There have been a lot of those questions. The only people who should be asking those questions are people who have never picked up a camera in their lives. Everybody on this site has a least some experience and could answer the questions themselves.

Hey cmc65, Buzz off. When you start paying my bills or sending me free Canon L lenses, I might pay attention to you. Until then, shut the f#$k up.

I wonder when someone asked one of those questions does he/she really gets an answer? There would be a few hundred responses recommending about a dozen of different choices.
Another thing, while I can't know what people think but I have the impression that when people asked those questions they already had the answers. They just need others to agree with their decision.

I understand when a noob asks such vague questions, reflecting their lack of knowledge and/or experience. It is difficult to answer such a question, lacking any more specific information relating to the question. But there is a flipside here. I don't know how many times someone has posted a question that has been very specific to a certain camera or lens, to which there are a plethora of answers suggesting something entirely different. In some cases, the OP's question has never ben answered. In my opinion, when someone asks about a specific item, the responses should be as to that item. I realize that each one of us here has our favorite brands/models, but that doesn't mean we should be trying to steer someone away from whatever it is that they are asking about. Sort of like someone asking what we think about a certain movie and gets a slew of answers suggesting he go on a picnic or mow the lawn.

However, there is wisdom in suggesting someone do some internet research before asking here, and I support that line of thought. Use the tools you have available to you, and when/if what you want to know can't be found, then start asking here on UHH. Someone here will have some good advice.

From my perspective, the problem with the answers given is that they are given without adequate information. A question like "I want to take pictures of birds" will get a dozen responses before someone thinks to ask about budget.

There is a saying that goes, there are no dumb que... (show quote)

There really are NO dumb questions. There are simplistic questions asked by people who need a starting point. Is someone asks what camera they should buy, some of the answers will refer them to sites from where they can begin to learn how to search. Even a sharp answer to look in our search feature can be the door to learning. Not answering these questions means the reader doesn't remember his/her start in photography - or was born a photographic genius and is to arrogant to share knowledge. Criticizing those who ask simplistic questions is rude. If you don't like and/or don't want to help beginners, go away. You WON'T be missed!

BHC, Most of the people who ask these questions are not beginners. You have no idea who you are talking to bud. I worked with apprentices for over 35 years, I will and have bent over backwards to help teach people. It seems you write more, than you post pictures on this site. And, as I wrote earlier, when you pay my bills or send me canon L lenes I might pay you some heed, until then shut the f#$k up.

I urge everyone who finds the OP offensive use Report Issue and ask Admin to move this to the Attic where it belongs. Let’s keep this a decent site to visit. I did my part!
