Nice shots. Seeing those two aircraft fly together especially in person sure evokes a lot of patriotic emotions. It is great to know we have had these two helping protect our freedoms.

Often times in air shows they will pair the P-51 with another newer aircraft, a few years ago at the Atlantic City air show they had a P-51 with an A-10 tank buster....AKA Warthog.

Yes, the A-10 Thunderbolt; a decisive weapon in our arsenal.

Probably in a certain sense, as the P-51 is smaller with a tighter turning radius, but the F-22 with its vector thrust capability is quite maneuverable and then you factor in the top speeds of 437 mph vs. 1,498 mph. The P-51, though was a marvelous weapon, especially when it was redesigned wit the air scoop, bubble canopy and the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. The Mustang was/is a beautiful plane and one of the best prop fighters ever, along with the F-4U Corsair, the Mitsubishi Zero, the Messerschmitt 109 and the Supermarine Spitfire.
