The majority of the gardens are flowers indigenous to Michigan (except for the Japanese gardens) and in between each of the Sculpture and/or floral sets, the Michigan wild flowers are allowed to flourish. In the spring, they have a very large indoor butterfly show.
Very much worth the trip. We spend five hours making a single pass with snapshots last summer. If I took a tripod, I would spend days there and not be finished. I would spend a day just at the farm, and another in the Japanese gardens, and most of a day with the horse sculpture (the horse is huge!).
Fall is also a great time to visit there. They had great seasonal displays that made for some very nice photos.
