Sony LA-EA4 from Australia

I am looking for an adapter to use my Sony A-mount glass on an E-mount body (A6000). I am looking at the Sony LA-EA2 or LA-EA4 bc it allows the AF to work. I see a LA-EA4 on EBay for a good price but its located in Austrailia. Is there any difference between a US version and an Austrailisn version of the adapter? Can I use it without any worry?

I doubt Sony makes different cameras and lenses for Australia, but you never know.

Lots of choices in this country.

I have a Sony a6000 and the adapter you mentioned. It works fine with all my Minolta and Sony A mount auto focus lenses. I also have the adapters for Canon and Minolta manual focus lenses. The only problem I have with the Sony auto focus adapter is the odd shape. This allows the tripod mount to be on the lens and thus take the pressure off the lens mount. I find this shape awkward and therefore have come to avoid using it if I can. Just my preference. It does however work very well with the A mount auto focus lenses. I seriously doubt there is one iota difference in US or Australia origin as they both bear the same model number.

I'm sure I saw an LA-EA4 here on the Hog in that last couple days.

The LA-EA4 will allow you to use screw driven A mount AF lenses. That includes ALL the Minolta AF, Konica Minolta AF (except 1), Sony, and Sony Zeiss screw drive lenses.

There is a downside however; the LA-EA4 is essentially the AF module from the Sony SLT-A57... 6 year old technology with limited AF points and a MUCH slower AF response than your existing A6000.

IF you have screw drive A mount lenses, it's pretty much the best game in town for your E mount camera. But IF you have A mount lenses with their own SSM or USM drive motors built in, the LA-EA3 is the way to go, as it will allow you to use your camera's existing AF functions to control the lens(es).

And to answer your question, no; there is NO difference between a North American LA-EA4 or an Australian LA-EA4.

That adapter may even have been purchased from an American company; B&H, Adorama, and Amazon do a LOT of business "Down Under".

GOOD LUCK!
